On the delve thing!

People who have learnt English in the countries which have British colonial past - this is exactly how we learnt English.

'Delve' is a normal word which we speak.

There is no sense of what word is archaic/out of fashion and what's not!

Often times when I speak English with Americans - they feel I have a British way of saying things(I have no clue).

May be it is because of my formative education at Sainik School(military public school) or may be it is because of how English has been taught here in India by our English teachers.

What's more - growing up American spellings of words were frowned upon by teachers! Only now they are becoming normal - all thanks to online word processors like googledocs and google keyboards.
